These antelope with short, curved horns are commonly found wandering the high-elevation meadows and steep rocky slopes of the Alps and other European mountain ranges. They are fast and agile runners, even on treacherous terrain, and they can reach top speeds of around 50 kilometres per hour (30 miles per hour) when escaping predators. They also may leap in the air up to around two metres (6.6 feet).
